Love it, Love it, Love it! RI read mixed reviews about the roomba from some sites as well as the love it / hate stories from co-workers. So, I was skeptical about spending money on something that was either hated or loved ones with others. I took a leap of faith and bought it! RI ve 'had it for 3 months now and use it about 3 X a week. I own 2 dogs, one of them sheds a lot! Roomba is a blessing for me. Not only do this job cleaning my tiled floor by itself, actually is better than me. R r my husband and I were amazed at how well it clean. I am my mother in law for Thanksgiving and he was equally amazed that it did work. I haven 't tried it on carpeting. It can be a different experience all together and I 'm guessing that is the problem that came to the satisfied customer. R r With regard to other reviews, I don 't find any of the maintenance on this small inconvenience in a vacuum. Yes, I have to empty the dirt from the storage room after each cleaning, but that 's something I want to do any other vacuum cleaner. A big bonus for me it gives me time to do other things, without having to pay someone to clean my house. R r I would highly recommend it to my dearest friend, provided they don 't expect machines to clear the dirt from their waste after cleaning.

I did a lot of research on the Roomba 500 series here on Amazon, and was convinced Finally This could be the solution to our huge problem of pet fur. I ended up buying the Roomba 540 at Sam 's club, instead of here on Amazon, but since it is the Same model, I thought I ' d offer my review. I 've been using it daily for about a month now and here are my observations: r rPros: rSeems to do a really good job vacuuming our living room (carpet) and kitchen (hardwood) in one shot. RIT Finds Almost always it 's charging station at the end, and even sings a little song Pls happy it does. RHas not once gotten tangled or hung up on anything rit 's Low Enough That it fits under all our furniture, including couches, Which is nice. RThe little spinning side brush is really pulls in debris from the Corners RIT slows down before it bumps into stuff. Pls Like it approached the flap on the couch, it slows down and then tries to gently push through. If it encounters a leg or something, it turns around. Rit 's fun to watch. Really, it 's pretty cool. I was surprised Pls WENT it under the couch the first time and I couldn 't Hear it, then it popped out on the side. RNot too loud. Yeah it makes noise, but not keep you up at night kind of noise. RPets seem OK with it. Our two dogs just get up and move it comes near Them Pls. I was worried they want would try to eat it, but so far, so good. Luckily there is not much sticking out they want Could actually get on their mouths around. RVirtual wall works rCame with a sticker saying if I feel like getting my geek on and the Roomba hacking software, Go For It!! How cool! (More below) r rCons: rBrushes need to be cleaned after EVERY run (more on this below) rBin capacity is pretty small. Enough to hold only one pass. They do make a larger bin Can you buy though, but it sacrifices the dust filter functionality. RDirt Detection is hit or miss. I would not pull this out for spot cleaning unless I was willing to wait for the entire room to be cleaned. They do make a remote control Guide That Can it though, so maybe That would fix this issue. RThe 540 models Can be scheduled to run at a certain time of day. That you only get with the 550 and up. Can you buy an accessory for this though, so you 're not entirely out of luck. RThe 540 model comes with a "Virtual Wall ", Which Is NOT The Same as a "Virtual Lighthouse '. The former keeps Roomba in one area for good. The Latter keeps Roomba in one room, then lets it into the next room, then guides it back to its original room Pls it 's all done and looking for its base. I believe higher models come with the lighthouse. R rThoughts: ron Cleaning: At least in our house, We have to empty the bin and use the brush cleaning tool after EVERY run, otherwise it will from get about 10 minutes into the next run, stop, do the uh-oh sound, and tell you to clean the brushes. Then it just Sits there Until you do. Cleaning is not that hard, but you do need to take out the two brushes, take off the plastic spacers and bearing "cap ", pick out little bits of fur around the bearings, run the brush through the cleaning tool (which is actually pretty awesome) and put it all back together again.It takes me about 10 minutes, and I really wish it could go a couple times Between cleanings. So far I don 't mind it but trust me, the will of Novelty soon wear off. R ron effectiveness: It works. Way better than I (and more importantly my wife) Expected. Our floors have never been so consistently fur-free. R ron Fun: iRobot is the coolest company in the world. They actually encourage geeks like me to hack on their software and give Roomba new functionality like playing music or drawing pictures. They Provide a serial port on the Roomba Itself for hooking it up to a laptop, and there 's loads of software and info out there on the internets. Best of all, it will from still clean your floor and it won 't even void your warranty. Again, the folks at iRobot = awesome. R rFinal Thought: I 'm still really glad i bought it. They do make a Roomba specifically for pet hair, Which May alleviate my biggest con, I don 't know, but even with the daily cleanings, I still like the Roomba a lot. It 's just one of Those Things That make me feel it is so cool to be living in the future, and hey, clean floor ... ..

I am thrilled with my Roomba 540 for what to do - it 's actually a little better than expected, expected, so far, although I do not yet belong to evaluate long enough durability and reliability. I have two little boys (7 and 5) and two cats (one long-haired) and I decided that the Roomba, but use as Upstairs Downstairs - it is easier, the chaos in our lives on the upper floor serving home can, and therefore virtually someone used to use it there on a routine investigation. R aspirated rRoomba under a challenging queen bed, navigating through a few lines, between two and six boxes underbed box spring supporting pillars, and still on the edge of the base plate under the head of the bed - great, since I 't don exactly an oak bed move very often. Roomba covered the floor of a rather complicated complete floor in the MBR, found the MBath and cleaned up the tile floor very well, again not navigate (included with the lighthouse yet) and discovered the hallway and one room of the children as well as the children 'tiles Bad, it has a nice job for all. I'm out of the closet doors closed before Roomba. It navigates himself into and out of some pretty tight curves. R rRoomba found a bale to navigate on the shirt of my son 's ground around him instead of trying to eat it, although I ' t don recommended approach that routinely. R rRoomba had a few difficulties, which I found too low in comparison to the actual vacuuming: r * Now, I have not been used were included, climb the lighthouse, the rooms and navigate to help Roomba - but Roomba has not yet managed to navigate back to its base for charging - I have to go after they find it 's done and take home. R * On the first pass under the bed (which badly need a good vacuuming) Roomba 's brush was a bit more than it could handle cat hair and it spit out little hair balls, which could now and then I pick disposed easily and - was perhaps a half dozen plates. But running on the second and third, if the floor was much cleaner, did not happen. R * The directions suggest emptying Roomba 's trash and its filter cleaning every three cleanings. OK, I 've already tried carptes my dirty here, but I ' ve found it worth emptying and cleaning each use, at least at first, but fortunately is really easy to make - push a button, easy to pop-out Handling the bin, dump in the trash, clean the filter (like a dryer lint filter in your dryer) pop back into Roomba bin with one click. No big deal, no mess, at least IMO. R Ron the up-side, meet in the cleaning for the first time and a lot of cat hair, Roomba 's has been stopped, and when I picked it up, a human-sounding voice informed me that I Roomba ' clean 's brushes required. It was easy to do and Roomba was back on the road. My unit came with spare brushes and a replacement filter, which must be replaced regularly to these parts. R rBut if takes sucking to start only on a button and puts it back with a stop behind the trash can, if it 's done later (or convenience, not otherwise specified), then I ' m sold. And it seems to be, while a nice job with good coverage of the soil. I would give it to my mother.
