As a brake, it 's wrong. I 've had this vacuum a little over a year and, of course, the battery is showing a typical memory problem. Yes, I knew that would happen, but knowing that the battery can be easily replaced I bought it anyway. However, as others noted, the costs of battery replacement as much as the actual vacuum. Not a good as 'll need another battery on the road again. I know how to care for Ni-Cad batteries, but can not avoid the inevitable memory problem. One advice I can give is that if you have one and run out of batteries in a short time and left in the battery "wake " after a minute or two. A little annoying, but at least you get some use from it. I am ordering a "Bare-Tool Makita Compact Vault BCL180ZW 18 lithium ion cordless vacuum. " Cheap but humanity is not like I use the entire line of Makita power tools use the same battery, (I have 4) only adds to the versatility. Love to see those tools BTW - resigned from Black & Decker tools years ago because the same battery problems.

I had my cordless Vac for just over 2 years - at first it worked fine - But after about one year, the battery life Began to get shorter, now only runs for about a minute before being too dead to do any good. I went to the site / BD Web and found the replacement battery (Kudos to B & D facility to replace the battery pack - 2 screws and the back opens wide and slides out pack) in every case, the package costs $ 33.67 for replacement - looks like a dear price to pay considering I really only took a year out of it - now replacing the almost cost me as much as I paid again for everything! The t haven 'decided if I want to buy the package or just buy a new one. Re not sure if I 'd buy another if they want only last a year or so.
